Anita Carnell to participate in Cheltenham’s Annual ‘Celebration of Craft & Design’
British artist Anita Carnell will showcase her work ‘Cycle of Time’ at the 2019 Celebration of Craftmanship & Design in Cheltenham, UK. The event is set to take place on August 17 – 26 at the stunning neo-classical Thirlestaine Long Gallery, Gloucestershire GL53 7LD. The newest works of more than seventy designer-makers will be showcased to thousands of attendees visiting from around the world.
Anita Carnell is one of only three fine artists to be selected to participate in the event. This is the UK’s largest exhibition of designer-maker furniture, and is known around the world as one of the foremost markets of the industry.
Carnell’s inclusion promises to add an unexpected element of fine art to this festival of craft and design. Her unique combination of leather, gold and textiles sets her apart from many other exhibitors at the event, and will provide attendees with dynamic visual interest. Carnell hand stitches gilded wire onto lamb’s hide, creating a juxtaposition that evokes contemplation in the viewer. She is particularly inspired by the Japanese term Yohaku-no-bi, a phrase that translates to 'blankness’.
